You can apply your Phosphorus Free Lawn Force 5 throughout the growing season, whenever your lawn is not dormant. We recommend applying in the early morning or evening for best results.
We recommend applying at a rate of 8 oz per 1000 square feet, which means 1 quart with hose-end sprayer will treat 4,000 square feet, and 1 gallon will treat 16,000 square feet. Many homeowners do best with the DIY starter package (1 quart with sprayer plus gallon refill).
Do not apply when the grass is going dormant or is not growing.
Do not apply if grass is under stress due to heat or lack of water.
Agitate before using. If bottle has been sitting for many weeks, make sure you gently agitate the bottle in case anything has settled at the bottom.
Early morning or late afternoon (avoiding daytime heat) applications work best.
Determine the size of the lawn (length x width) before applying so you will know how much to use (recommended rate is 8 oz per 1000 sf)
General Application Instructions:
If you are not using our ready-to-use hose-end sprayer, fill your adjustable hose-end sprayer with Lawn Force 5 Phosphorus-Free Fertilizer and set it to 2-3 oz per gallon. Product can also be applied with a tank sprayer.
Turn the water on at a medium flow and walk across the yard at a slow to medium pace, soaking the top of the lawn as you spray in a 6-10′ swath.
Go over the lawn as many times as needed until you have used the correct amount of the product. With some trial and error you will learn the best pace to apply it just right.
Water in after applying, or apply just before rain is expected.
Repeat every 4 weeks at 8 oz per 1000 sf on established lawns where clippings are left. If clippings are not left you may need to apply at 10 oz per 1000 sf to replace the lost nutrients that come from the clippings.
On poor quality lawns, or lawns that seem nitrogen-starved (pool color), you can apply every 2-3 weeks until better health is achieved.

Yes. Because Lawn Force 5 and Phosphorus Free Lawn Force 5 contain microbes, you want to get them out of the sun and into the soil. Water soon after applying. Water at least enough to get the product off the leaf blades and on or into the soil.
Yes. All products can be applied the same day, except for Yard Guard which is best applied alone and allowed to sit a day or two. Yard Guard can be applied on the same day as your Lawn Force 5/Phosphorus Free Lawn Force 5, but only after the Lawn Force 5 has been watered in.
Yes, our Lawn Force 5/Phosphorus Free Lawn Force 5 is great to use as a starter fertilizer for new grass seed. Apply before or right after seeding, but before grass sprouts. Delay any further applications until new grass has grown tall enough to be mowed.
Yes! Make sure not to use weed and feed or have your lawn treated by services if the lawn is under heat/drought stress, but at all other times this product is compatible with other lawn care programs.
Because it contains live enzymes, ideally your Lawn Force 5/Phosphorus Free Lawn Force 5 should be used within 1 year after purchase. After that, there is a gradual die-off of the microbes and thatch digesting enzymes which means the product won’t be as effective.
