Every school child has heard the story of how the Indians taught the Pilgrims how to fertilize corn by burying fish. Whether the story is true or not, fish is a fantastic organic fertilizer that has been used for centuries all over the world. Like all of the better organic fertilizers, it enriches the soil with nutrients, and helps increase soil bio-activity as well. By putting the fish into a liquid form, the nutrients are more readily available to the soil microbes, as well as the plant roots. Furthermore, when mixed with water and sprayed on leaves, it makes a terrific and fast-acting foliar fertilizer, higher in Nitrogen than most organic fertilizers.
Aqua Power is derived from ocean fish. Aside from being a 5-1-1 Organic fertilizer, it is loaded with Trace Minerals and Micro-nutrients. There are over 40 minerals, vitamins and amino acids in Aqua Power, such as iron, selenium, zinc, calcium, copper, manganese, vitamins A, B 12, E, Thiamine, Riboflavin, Folic Acid to name just a few. Most of these are in a chelated form, meaning they are readily available to the plant or turf. All of these contribute to growing healthier and more nourishing plants, and more resistance to disease and insects too.
This low odor product is cold processed through hydrolysis — a specialized enzymatic digestion process that protects the vitamins, amino acids, enzymes, growth hormones and oils. There is no formaldehyde or other chemicals used in this process, and no odor-masking agents are added.
Use Aqua Power for the Growth Stage (Nitrogen) in our 4 Step Garden Fertilizing Program as either a soil drench or more economically by foliar feeding through the leaves. (Read our short article on foliar feeding.). You can also mix a little Aqua Power in with any of our other liquid fertilizer to boost organics and Nitrogen.
Due to the high Nitrogen percentage in 5-1-1 Aqua Power, this product makes a great fertilizer for pastures, grains, hay fields, lawns, and all green plants including shrubs and trees. It also has a direct effect on the general health of livestock when pasture fields are sprayed with it.
- Shake Well Before Using
- Once Mixed with Water be Sure to Use within 12 Hours
- When foliar feeding, make sure plants are not under drought stress.
Mix ½ -1 tablespoon per quart of water or up to 2 oz per gallon of water. Using a fine spray or mister, moisten both sides of leaves to the point of runoff. Apply every 7-10 days in early morning or after mid-day heat has dropped 10 degrees. For flowering plants or vegetables make application until plants start to bloom. Then switch to a high phosphorus fertilizer.
General mixing rate in a hose end sprayer is 1½ oz per gallon of water. Apply generously to the soil and water in. If using a watering can use 1 oz per gallon of water. Apply every 2 weeks.
House Plants/Potted Plants: 1 Teaspoon per quart of water, or 1 Tablespoon per gallon of water. Water into the soil afterwards to avoid odors. Use every 1 -2 weeks.
Bed Preparation (pre-planting) Drench bare soil with 3 oz per 50 sf or up to 1 quart per 1000 sf. Water into soil or till before planting.
