One of the secrets to a great lawn is having a porous, well-aerated soil where roots can grow deeply and biolife can thrive. According to the experts, the best soils should contain about 25% air. Unfortunately, most soils in this area have a high clay content or are very compacted. They need to be loosened up and core aeration doesn't seem to do much to help.
Compacted soils cause unhealthy plants.
They stay soggy when wet, and turn rock hard when they dry out in the summer. When soils are "tight", necessary air, water and nutrients can not move through the soil easily. Disease occurs. Roots are stunted. Beneficial micro-organisms can't survive. Plants are stressed and weakened. When you are doing everything else right, soil compaction will ruin all your efforts.
Natural Lawn Aeration contains a liquid soil penetrant that breaks apart tightly bonded clay particles. This creates "space" in the soil, allowing roots, water and air to permeate. We also add bio-activators (humates, seaweed and molasses) to help speed up your soil's regeneration. When the soil is well aerated and bioactive, roots grow deeper and plants are much healthier. The soil drains faster when wet, but it actually holds more water when the conditions are dry.
Natural Lawn Aeration versus Core Aeration.
Years ago we noticed that core aeration was really not very effective in terms of soil improvement. The tines did not go down deep enough and holes were too big and too far apart. It is messy and expensive too. Also, there were problems running heavy aerators over sprinkler systems, underground wires, water vent caps and tree roots.
Natural Lawn Aeration is simply a better way to aerate a lawn.
It penetrates about a foot down, and goes deeper on follow up applications. It covers 100% of the soil without making a mess, and it actually does break up clay and reduce compaction. It is safe to use over sprinklers and it is beneficial to trees and all other plantings. Best of all, it is less expensive than core aeration.
Did you know?
The structure of your soil is crucial to the health of your lawn and plants. Soils that are too sandy or claylike are problem soils. Adding Organic matter has long been recognized as one of the best ways to improve soil structure. Our Natural Lawn Aeration application helps break up the clay and gets the organic matter "working" much faster.
