  Nature's Insect Guard

Guard Your Yard Naturally

All gardeners and homeowners should know that there is an alternative to synthetic chemical insecticides, one they can confidently use on their grounds. Nature's Insect Guard is a blend of organic ingredients and scents, including garlic extract, that have been shown to repel harmful insects and thus protect plants, people and animals. This formulation has been used successfully around homes, zoos, municipal and private parks (including Busch Gardens), stables and farms. There is very little odor to this product, and it usually dissipates within an hour.

Garlic (cloves and juices) has long been recognized as an insect deterrent. Garlic also masks the parasite attracting signals (or auras) that plants emit. The concentrated garlic extract in Nature's Insect Guard is a more powerful form of garlic, so a little bit goes a long way,

Though Garlic is one of the essential ingredients in this product, it is far from the only reason it works so well. Nature's Insect Guard contains a formula of sucrose and complexed carbohydrates that increase plant energy (or brix levels) which then makes plants less attractive to parasites. It also contains sulfur, iron, selenium (an antioxidant), and other micronutrients that give a plant energy that helps it ward off pests and insects.

Nature's Insect Guard is harmless to animals, trees, crops and ground water and is accepted by most certification agencies as "organic".

Did you know?

Healthy plants are more resistent to insects. Farmers know that insects will walk right through (or fly over) a healthy crop to get to a weak or stressed one. Lack of water and nutrients are the most obvious stresses, but even when supplied, many plants still suffer due to soil compaction around the roots. They can't utilize the water and nutrients properly without aeration. If you have compacted or clay soil, we recommend using our AERIFY! Liquid Soil Aerator and Clay Loosener.

Which Insects Are Repelled by Nature's Insect Guard?

Any Insect that feeds on lawns or plants is capable of being repelled by Nature's Insect Guard. Since it is much harder to repel the insects once they are already present, our best advice is to start applying before infestation occurs. Beneficial insects (bees, praying mantis etc...) will not be repelled by this product and may actually be attracted to the healthier plants. However, you should avoid getting the spray directly on them if they are present.

Foliar Spraying Tips

  • Spray early to late morning for better absorption. Early evening is the next best time.

  • Avoid spraying during the heat of the day or the spray can evaporate before it is absorbed.

  • Add some soap to help the spray spread and stick better. A fine mist spray sticks best, but hose-end sprayers can be effective if done a little more heavily and during the right time of day.

  • Try to reach the underside of leaves because that is where most of the pores (stomata) are.

Nature's Insect Guard can also be used with any of our other foliar and soil applied products as well as most other liquid products on the market. Compatibility tests are recommended.

General Application Information

LAWNS: Apply 4 oz of Insect Guard per 1000 sf every month using a hose-end sprayer or any spraying equipment. Recommended hose-end setting is 2 oz per gallon of water. Start applications before insects appear for best results. Try to apply before dew is off the lawn. Apply 50% stronger when Japanese Beetles are active in your area.

GARDEN PLANTS, TREES, SHRUBS, PERENNIALS: For better results and less product waste, spray with a Pump Sprayer using a fine mist setting. Apply at 2 oz per gallon (or 1 teaspoon per quart) every 2 weeks. Spray foliage and try to get the undersides of leaves for best absorption. If using a hose-end sprayer, spray quickly and wet reachable leaves.

We suggest adding a small amount of dish soap (1/2 oz per every 4 oz of Nature's Insect Repellent) to help it stick to plants.

Agricultural: 1 Qt per acre every two weeks or 1-2 gallons per acre every 6-8 weeks. Use a minimum of 5 gallons of water per acre.
