Every school child has heard the story of how the Indians taught the Pilgrims how to fertilize corn by burying fish. Whether the story is true or not, fish is a fantastic organic fertilizer that has been used for centuries all over the world. Like all of the better organic fertilizers, it enriches the soil with nutrients, and helps increase soil bio-activity as well. By putting the fish into a liquid form, the nutrients in Fish Emulsion are more readily available to the soil microbes, as well as the plant roots. Furthermore, when mixed with water and sprayed on leaves, Fish Emulsion makes a terrific and fast-acting foliar fertilizer, higher in Nitrogen than most organic fertilizers.
Our Fish Emulsion is derived from ocean fish that feed on mineral rich plankton. The result is a 5-1-1 fertilizer loaded with Trace Minerals, Macro and Micro-nutrients. There are over 40 minerals, vitamins and amino acids in our Fish Emulsion, such as iron, boron, zinc, calcium, manganese, vitamins B1, B2 to name just a few. Most of these are in a chelated form, meaning they are readily available to the plant or turf.
This product is made by liquefying whole fish, not just leftover fish parts. It is then concentrated by evaporation to a cream-like 52% solid. It has a 10% natural oil property, which can lead to dramatic reductions in insect damage, according to both farmers and growing university supported tests. There is no formaldehyde or other chemicals used in this process, and no odor-masking agents are added.
Fish Emulsion, when used on crops or vegetable gardens, provides high nutritional value and excellent plant health. It also has a direct effect on the general health of livestock which pasture on fields sprayed with it. It contains health-giving ingredients that you simply can't get from synthetic fertilizers. However, you can enhance other liquid fertilizers by simply adding in some Fish Emulsion.
Fish Emulsion is concentrated into a creamy, viscous brown liquid screened to a 20 mesh, and needs to be diluted with water prior to application. It has a characteristic fish odor which dissipates quickly, especially if watered after a ground application. Fish Emulsion can be mixed with our Aerify! or Aerify PLUS, our Bio-Enhanced Liquid Fertilizers and our Biological Dethatcher. If mixed with fertilizers or Dethatcher, use within 12 hours.
APPLICATION RATES:

FOLIAR APPLICATIONS
Mix 1 tablespoon per quart or 1 - 2 oz per gallon of water. Using a fine spray or mister, moisten both sides of leaves to the point of runoff. Apply every 10 days to 2 weeks in early morning or after mid-day heat has dropped 10 degrees. Add a few drops of wetting agent or dish soap per qt to decrease droplet size, and help spray cover and stick to leaves. Liquid Aerify! can be used for this purpose too.
SOIL APPLICATIONS
General mixing rate is 1-2 oz per gallon of water for outdoor use on hardy plants.
House Plants/Potted Plants: 1 Teaspoon per quart of water, or 1 Tablespoons per gallon of water. Use 1 cup of this mix for every foot of plant height every 2 weeks. Water into the soil afterwards if there are odor issues.
Annuals, Vegetables, New Perennials: 1 oz per gallon of water to cover up to 25 sf. Apply every 2-4 weeks. Water in afterwards.
Established Perennials, Roses, Shrubs: 1 1/2 oz (3 tablespoons) per gallon of water to cover up to 25 sf. Or use 1 -2 cups for each foot of plant height, depending on plant width. Apply where feeder roots are located, every 3-4 weeks.
Trees and Lawns: 12 oz per 1000 sf or 1 Quart per 3000 sf every 3-5 weeks or as needed. If using a hose-end sprayer, dilute product beforehand with 2/3 water, to prevent clogging. For pump sprayers use up to 4 oz per gallon of water.

AGRICULTURAL
Soil Treatments: Apply up to 4 gallons per acre. Split the application between pre-plant and side dress.
Foliar Treatments: 1-2 Quarts per acre every 2 weeks prior to bloom and at least once after bud set.
CAUTION: This product contains 5% Nitrogen. Nitrogen products are capable of burning plant leaves if over applied or applied in severely hot weather.
